In my research last year I collected data that gave me a powerful result: I showed hundreds of people of all ages, from 18 to 60, of different genders and nationalities, four facial expressions used in marketing, where however only one was authentic (the other 3 were evidently chosen without attention by the reference brand). Over 80% of people correctly recognized the truest expression . This is not true for all emotions, but mainly for some, including happiness. I'll show you the data another time, but what's important to understand is this: we are already biologically prepared to recognize true happiness from fake happiness.

And if a sincere smile makes us feel in a certain state, the false one projects us into a completely different world, in everyday life as well as in consumer choices.
